Why Composite?

Why Composite Decking?

NH winters are rough. Wood warps, splinters, and needs work every year. Composite holds up without the upkeep.

  • No Maintenance

No staining, sealing, or painting. Ever. Hose it off once in a while and it looks the same as day one.

  • Handles NH Winters

Composite boards go through freeze-thaw cycles without warping, cracking, or soaking up water the way wood does.

  • 25 to 50 Year Warranties

The brands we install carry 25 to 50 year warranties on materials, color, and stain resistance. They are transferable, so your home's resale value goes up too.

  • Made from Recycled Material

Built from recycled wood fibers and plastic. Good for the environment and better than cutting new lumber.

  • Adds Resale Value

A composite deck returns 65 to 75 percent of its cost when you sell. A beat-up wood deck does the opposite.

Common Questions

Questions We Hear All the Time

Straight answers about composite decking, cost, and how we work.

How much does a composite deck cost in New Hampshire?

Most composite deck projects in southern NH run between $85 and $100 per square foot installed. A typical 400 sq ft deck falls somewhere between $34,000 and $40,000 depending on materials, height, stairs, and railing. Premium boards from Eva Last or Deckorators cost more than entry-level options, but they carry longer warranties and hold up better over time. We give you a free written estimate so you know the full number before anything starts.

What is the difference between composite and pressure-treated wood decking?

Composite is made from wood fibers and recycled plastic. It doesn't need staining, sealing, or painting and it holds up against rot, mold, and moisture. Pressure-treated wood is cheaper upfront but needs maintenance every year or two and will warp and splinter over time. Once you factor in the upkeep costs, composite usually comes out ahead after 10 to 15 years.

How long does composite decking last in New Hampshire?

The brands we install, Eva Last, Deckorators, and Wear Decking, carry warranties ranging from 25 to 50 years on materials, fading, and staining. The boards are built for cold climates and handle freeze-thaw cycles without absorbing water the way wood does. Warranties are also transferable, which adds resale value when you sell your home.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in New Hampshire?

Yes, in most NH towns you need a permit for any deck attached to the house or more than 30 inches off the ground. Requirements vary by town. We handle all of that for you. We pull the permits, submit the drawings, and make sure everything meets local code. You don't have to deal with the town office.

What composite deck brands do you install?

We install Eva Last, Deckorators, and Wear Decking by Owens Corning. Eva Last is a bamboo fiberglass PVC composite, Deckorators uses a mineral-based board, and Wear Decking is a marine-grade option. Each has different price points and looks. We'll walk you through the options during the estimate. We are also a certified pro or listed installer for Eva Last, Deckorators, and Fortress, which means we are held to higher installation standards.

How long does it take to build a composite deck?

Once we have the permit approved, most builds take 1 to 3 weeks depending on size. From your first call to the day we start, plan for 2 to 6 weeks to cover the estimate, permitting, and material lead times. We build April through November mostly, but off-season jobs are possible depending on the scope and weather.

What areas of southern New Hampshire do you serve?

We cover all of southern NH including Nashua, Manchester, Concord, Derry, Londonderry, Merrimack, Bedford, Hudson, Milford, Amherst, Windham, Salem, Pelham, Hollis, Goffstown, Hooksett, Bow, Weare, and the towns around them.
