Pergolas & Outdoor Rooms
Custom pergolas, outdoor kitchens, shade structures, and screen enclosures. Designed and built for New England weather, not just the summer months.
Most pergolas and outdoor structures you see were designed for somewhere warm. They look good in a catalog and fall apart after two NH winters. We build outdoor rooms with the same structural standards we use on every deck. Materials that handle freeze-thaw cycles, framing that will not rot or warp, and hardware that will not corrode. A pergola we build in Nashua today should still be solid in Nashua in 20 years. Beyond durability, we design these spaces to actually get used. Lighting so you can be out there after dark. Fan mounting so you are comfortable in August. Screens if the bugs are an issue. An outdoor kitchen if you want to cook outside without hauling everything out from the garage.

Every project is custom. These are the most common types we design and build.
An attached pergola extends off the house and creates a covered outdoor room that connects directly to your living space. It works well for homeowners who want an outdoor area they can walk right out to from the kitchen or living room. We handle all the structural connections to the house, flashing, and permitting. NH towns vary on what requires a permit for attached structures and we know the requirements.
A freestanding pergola can go anywhere in your yard. Over a patio, alongside a pool, or at the edge of a deck. More flexibility than an attached structure. We set posts on footings that go below NH's 48-inch frost line so the structure stays plumb and solid through winter.
We frame and build the structure for outdoor kitchen installs. Counter bases, overhead shelter, and utility rough-ins for gas and electrical where needed. We work alongside your appliance supplier and any trades needed for plumbing or electrical. The result is a purpose-built outdoor kitchen that is built right, not pieced together from prefab parts.
Screen enclosures turn an open deck into a bug-free outdoor room. Covered roof additions give you shade and rain protection that an open pergola cannot. These are more involved builds that require permitting, but they expand how much of the year you can actually use the space. We design and build both.
Why It Matters
We build every pergola ready for lighting and fans. Blocking, junction boxes, and wiring rough-ins are part of the build. Add fixtures during construction or come back to it later.
All freestanding structures are set on footings that go below NH's 48-inch frost line. No shifting, no leaning, no structural problems after the first winter.
We handle all permitting for pergola and outdoor room builds. NH towns have different requirements for attached vs. freestanding structures. We know the codes and take care of the paperwork.
If you are building a deck and a pergola together, we design both as one project. Same materials, matching colors, proportions that work together instead of two separate builds that look like they came from different contractors.
How It Works
Three steps from first call to finished deck. We handle the paperwork, you pick what you want.

We pull the permits, order the materials, and lock in a build date. You stay in the loop the whole time. No chasing us down for updates.
Our crew shows up when we say we will, builds to code, and cleans up when we leave. You walk through it with us before we call it done.
Common Questions
It depends on the town and the type of structure. Freestanding pergolas under a certain size often do not require a permit. Attached structures, screened enclosures, and anything with a solid roof almost always do. We look into your specific town's requirements during the estimate and handle all permitting where it is needed.
We use composite lumber, aluminum, and steel framing for pergolas. Same materials we use for decks. We avoid pressure-treated wood for primary structural members wherever we can, which means no rot, no warping, and no annual treatment. For the boards on top, we can use composite that matches your deck or gives a clean painted look.
Yes, in most cases. We look at the existing deck structure to make sure it can carry the added load of a pergola. If the framing needs reinforcing, we handle that as part of the project. We do not build on top of structures that cannot support it safely.
Most pergola builds take 3 to 7 days on site depending on size and complexity. Combined deck and pergola projects may run 2 to 3 weeks. From estimate to build start, plan for 4 to 8 weeks to account for permitting and materials.
